Video Clips and Slideshows Available Online

April 11, 2008

Much of the Multimedia – audio, video, images, blogs and podcasts content has been created by enthusiastic individual members of the Baha’i Faith and does not necessarily represent the views of the National Spiritual Assemblies however the NSA of the US does provide this useful link on their official site with a long but not exhaustive list of multimedia resources. They also suggest program developers use iTunes, YouTube and Google searches for other excellent audio and video resources.

  • The Valley of Unity is a visually stunning movie (under 4 minutes) with enchanting music by New Era Baha’i Choir from their production The Seven Valleys, inspired by The Seven Valleys by Baha’u’llah. The song is available on their Release CD. The video clip celebrates “the oneness and harmony of creation, of science, nature and spirit. Photography by Hans J. Knospe and other sources with permission. This movie can be projected using a fullscreen for Holy Days, devotional meetings, conferences or special events. Specs: 3 min 7 sec, 7.79 MB. Given the special connection between the revelation of the Seven Valleys and the Twelve Days of Ridvan, the visually stunning movie Valley of Unity would be ideal for one of the Ridvan Holy Day celebrations. The New Era Baha’i Choir now has a Facebook page.
  • Hans J. Knospe has a Flickr account and has a full album of images of the Holy Land, including the Garden of Ridvan, which he has generously made available to some communities on request for use during Ridvan celebrations.
  • Ezzatollah Rouhani Seissan uploaded this inspiring 20 minute slideshow entitled Prayer of Baha’u’llah of  CLXXVII: “I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy mighty Sign,…”  from Prayers and Meditations of Baha’u’llah from  on February 15, 2011, one of 170 videos on this active YoutTube account providing a rich source of inspiration for Baha’is everywhere. The music includes the Baha’i Chorus of Shiraz. Images include pictures and relics of the sacred places of the Baha’i Faith.
This prayer is on page 268 under the heading The Fast in the 1991 prayerbook entitled Bahá’í Prayers: A Selection of Prayers Revealed by Bahá’u’lláh, the Báb, and ‘Abdu’l-Bahá published by the US Bahá’í Publishing Trust. The introduction to the section on the Fast explains, “The Kitáb-i-Aqdas states: “We have commanded you to pray and fast from the beginning of maturity [15 years]; this is ordained by God, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers…. The traveler, the ailing, those who are with child or giving suck, are not bound by the fast…. Abstain from food and drink, from sunrise to sundown, and beware lest desire deprive you of this grace that is appointed in the Book (Baha’u’llah).” The period of the Fast is March 2 through March 20.”

    Dear Maureen,

I downloaded the Valley of Unity and used it in our 12th Day of Ridvan presentation here in Bangkok, Thailand.

    The youth enthusiastically enjoyed it.

    Thanks ever so much.

Where, please tell me, can I download more of the same?

I visted the Bahai multi media website you gave, but couldn’t even find “Valley of Unity”.

Where is it and similar downloadables hidden?

By the way, my wife and I created a Powerpoint presentation about Babylong and Baghdad, as you’ve shared my ideas with me, I feel I should share my creativity with you.

If you’d like a copy, send a reply with your Email address.

    Allah’u’Abha

Thank you for your kind encouragement. I left a comment on Hans Knospe’s Flickr blog since he provided photos for the Valley of Unity

    movie.

Are you familiar with Web 2.0 Plus tools that allow users anywhere to post their PowerPoints, digital images, video clips, etc for

free on line? I have been regularly using Flickr.com for images,

YouTube and Google.com for videos and slideshare.net for PowerPoint. I am comfortable with the level of security these open source service providers offer. I am careful to not post anything I would not want viewed 30 years from now by my

    grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I post resources online and license it with a Creative Commons 3.0

BY-NC-SA license so that others may use it without having to ask permissions each time.

I would indeed like to see your PowerPoint. I encourage you to consider using services like slideshare.net. These services are for

free for everyone. They allow you options of making your resources either private (with invitations to friends) or public.

    Dear friends,
thank you very much for this information and mentioning of my “photo-poetry” artwork in relation with the “Valley of Unity” video clip from the Baha´i youth of Australia. I think it is a wonderful way to help the individual artist for more understanding, acceptance and feeling useful to the communities and to the public. I hope that more friends at the home front and from all over would search for and discover this possibilties and offer – in the view as Maureen Flynn-Burhoe discribed it.
I feel a bit in the “Valley of Patience” when I think of it that I´ve send the images to the subject of the “Valley of Unity” already years ago to to producers and – now few nice result come back… but as mentioned another great possiblitiy is the use and/or the participation of Flickr. under catchwords: Baha´i, Haifa, Houses of Worship, etc. and of course under the names of Baha´i friends worldwide.
Special thanks to Maureen Flyn-Burhoe and her creative activities!
    Happy Holiday (May 23. 2008)
